On May 17, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) officially released the *National Catalog of Energy-Saving and Carbon Reduction Technologies & Equipment (2024 Edition)*. CAS Hefei Gasification Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter ZHGAS) successfully secured inclusion in the catalog’s Industrial Energy-Saving and Carbon Reduction Technologies section with its "Circulating Fluidized Bed Coal Gasification Technology" under the category of Clean and Efficient Coal Utilization Technologies.

The catalog comprises 173 technologies and 173 equipment types across three sections: Industrial Energy-Saving Technologies, ICT Energy-Saving Technologies, and High-Efficiency Energy-Saving Equipment. It aims to accelerate the adoption of advanced energy-saving and carbon-reduction solutions, driving decarbonization in key industrial sectors while enhancing corporate efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

ZHGAS's CGAS Technology utilizes high-concentration material circulation to elevate carbon density, intensifying coal gasification reactions while recovering waste heat to supply endothermic gasification processes. This dual-cycle approach (carbon + energy) achieves efficient coal gasification and full heat recovery, generating zero phenol wastewater or tar. All wastewater is treated to standards and fully recycled. Complementary residual carbon treatment technologies further boost carbon conversion and energy efficiency by combusting or gasifying unburned carbon in fly ash, enabling clean, cascaded coal utilization.

Key advantages include:

  • Broad coal adaptability (high-moisture lignite, high-alkali coal, anthracite, etc.);

  • Low energy consumption and operating costs;

  • System efficiency up;

  • Near-zero emissions of triple wastes;

  • Proven reliability across 30+ industrial projects.

  • The technology had previously been recognized in:

  • MIIT's National Eco-Environment Achievements Transformation Platform;

  • Advanced Applicable Technologies for "Waste-Free City" Construction;

  • Anhui Province’s "Five 100" Energy Conservation & Environmental Protection Technologies.

On January 3, 2024, ZHGAS presented CGAS's technical merits, decarbonization impacts, and case studie at MIIT’s expert review meeting, securing formal endorsement. This latest inclusion reaffirms its technological sophistication, environmental benefits, and economic viability.

To date, ZHGAS has deployed CGAS in syngas and industrial clean gas projects, delivering triple-benefit (economic/social/environmental) demonstrations. Its coal flexibility has been validated with high-moisture lignite, Zhundong high-alkali coal, high-ash bituminous coal, and low-reactivity anthracite. Moving forward, ZHGAS will expand CGAS applications to spearhead innovation and advance high-quality growth in coal chemicals and environmental protection.
